Be sure to dust mop your floors daily. This practice not only removes dust but also eliminates the grit that gets tracked into your building. Grit can act as an abrasive on your hard surface floor.
Make sure to scrub your floors at least twice a week, especially during the first two to three months after a new terrazzo floor installation. Construction dust can still be in the air during this period and may settle on your floor. Afterward, a weekly scrubbing should suffice, but adjust the frequency based on foot traffic to maintain a clean appearance. Always rinse your floors thoroughly to prevent the accumulation of cleaner residue, which can become slippery.
Be sure to seal your floors using a water-based sealer, following the manufacturer's instructions. Typically, a new floor will require two or more coats to achieve a desirable sheen, which should last for 45 to 60 days before requiring additional coats. Ensure that the sealer is classified by Underwriters Laboratories as slip-resistant, with a minimum rating of 0.5.
Use maintenance products specifically designed for terrazzo.
After applying the neutral cleaner to the terrazzo surface, allow it a few minutes to work and loosen foreign matter as intended. Several minutes should be sufficient, but be sure not to let the solution dry on the surface.

Because of the presence of construction debris, thorough cleaning may be required. Utilize a soft brush attached to a buffer and mild detergents for this purpose. It's important to note that vigorous cleaning may lead to a slight reduction in gloss. However, this reduction in gloss does not impact the performance of the system. Dust mop using a clean, non-oily dust mop. Periodically clean the mop to remove fine dust particles with a vacuum hose. For wet spills, use damp mopping. Please note that surfaces with aggressive skid-inhibiting textures may require brush scrubbing followed by a water rinse for proper cleaning. Regular mopping may not effectively clean textured surfaces. Refer to 'Weekly Maintenance' for maintaining surfaces with skid-inhibiting features.
Mop the surface with an all-purpose cleaner. For surfaces with skid-inhibiting textures or when a smooth surface is excessively soiled, scrubbing is essential. Use a bristle brush or a bristle attachment on a power scrubber (avoid nylon pads) along with a suitable detergent solution to effectively remove dirt. The choice of detergent will vary based on the amount and type of buildup on the floor surface.
For areas with light dirt, use an all-purpose cleaner. When dealing with extremely heavy-duty soils such as oil, grease, and rubber marks, a cleaner/degreaser can be employed to effectively remove tire marks and stubborn stains. After scrubbing, rinse the floor and vacuum it to prevent dirt from resettling on the surface.
